Restore Our Constitution Presents Keynote Speaker Candidate for 109th District Cory Musgrave
On Friday May 31, Pastor Corey Musgrave of the New Beginnings Church in Fairfield, Illinois led the Illinois House as a guest of Representative Darren Bailey in prayer Friday, asking God to judge the state for its abortion policy. Pastor Musgrave's prayer drew attention from all over the state.
Pastor Musgrave prayed for the unborn who would be aborted by The Reproductive Health Act, presented by Rep. Kelly Cassidy, D-Chicago. Cassidy declares that women have a “fundamental right” to abortion and that a “fetus does not have independent rights” apart from his or her mother. Since this was a Democrat sponsored bill, it didn't set well with the party when Pastor Musgrave prayed. *Video below.
Musgrave is pro-life. He supports the 2nd Amendment. He opposes tax increases and he will be a strong voice for the residents of Southeastern Illinois.

Restore Our Constitution is a group of citizens that love our country! Our focus is the study of the founding of our country, our founding fathers, the Declaration and the Constitution.
From time to time we share current news, information on local, state and national issues. On occasion we have guest speakers that talk on a broad rage of subjects.

Our meetings are for information purposes to provide a place for people to meet candidates, hear city, state and national topics discussed and most of all learn the history of our nation. Community Opt-Out for Marijuana Dispensaries

Last month, on June 25th, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker signed legislation to approve so-called “recreational” marijuana for persons 21 years old and older. When this law (HB 1438 Senate Amendment 2) takes effect on January 1, 2020, it will allow the licensed growth, sales, possession and use of marijuana. The Land of Lincoln becomes the 11th state to legalize this dangerous intoxicant for recreational purposes.
The federal government still classifies marijuana as a schedule 1 drug, which means it remains illegal. According to the DEA website, “Schedule I drugs, substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.”
There is, however, a way to mitigate the consequences of this destructive policy. The bill that was passed by the General Assembly and hastily signed into law by our governor allows villages, cities and counties to opt out of marijuana retail sales. If you do not want marijuana addicts and recreational users driving in and out of your community regularly to purchase drugs, this important option must be considered.
TAKE ACTION: Ask your local mayor, village trustees, aldermen and county board members to pass an ordinance prohibiting marijuana dispensaries and marijuana businesses in your community. The Village of Morton in central Illinois is the first municipality to pass such an ordinance. Their ordinance can serve as a template for other communities: Click HERE for this sample ordinance.

David is an attorney licensed in IL and FL and author of Constitutional Sound Bites . He earned his B.A. in Political Science from Bradley University and J.D. from The John Marshall Law School, cum laude, while serving on the The John Marshall Law Review. He studied law at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.

Representative Dan Caulkins of the 101st District will be our keynote speaker. Represenative Caulkins will address some pressing and concerning issues in Illinois. There will be a short Q&A period during the meeting.
In every organization he has been involved in, Dan Caulkins has insisted on balanced budgets. As a member of the Decatur City Council, he fought against the back-door practice of raising property taxes through the annual levy. As a member of the Eastern Illinois University Board of Trustees, Dan is working to return EIU to a solid fiscal outlook.
Dan is a graduate of Decatur public schools and Eastern Illinois University (EIU). He currently serves as an EIU Trustee and previously served on the Decatur City Council from 2005-2009.

What is New Illinois?
"New Illinois" is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization with the mission of educating Illinois citizens about their RIGHT to seek to form a new state from the State of Illinois and to separate from the tyranny existing there. New Illinois is seeking a state split according to the procedures established in Article IV, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution, following the West Virginia model.
Representatives Halbrook, Bailey, Miller are sponsors of HR0101 which Urges the United States Congress to declare the City of Chicago the 51st state of the United States of America and separate it from the rest of Illinois.

Allen and Kraft founded the Edgar County Watchdogs;

Why We Need the Electoral College
RUSH: Okay. Let me recast this, and you correct me if I get anything wrong. She has four kids, among them some Millennials -- old enough to be Millennials -- and they have been questioning the value of Electoral College. Why doesn't the popular vote matter? It seems like that ought to be the way we elect the president, not state by state. They came up with an idea that we would apportion states like we do in primaries. In the Republican primary, if Trump wins a state, he gets whatever percentage of the delegates in that state according to the vote he got and so forth and so on. Because that would make every state count, you say.

Electoral College: Preserve or Abolish?
Although groups like the League of Women Voters have long supported the abolition of the electoral college,1 the protracted proceedings in Florida as well as the apparent disparity between the popular and the electoral college vote have further fueled calls to abolish the electoral college. Constitution Week September 17-23
The United States Constitution stands as a testament to the tenacity of Americans throughout history to maintain their liberties, freedoms and inalienable rights.
This celebration of the Constitution was started by the Daughters of the American Revolution. In 1955, DAR petitioned Congress to set aside September 17-23 annually to be dedicated for the observance of Constitution Week. The resolution was later adopted by the U.S. Congress and signed into public law on August 2, 1956, by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
The DAR has also erected a structure that is built in tribute to the Constitution of the United States. DAR Constitution Hall, which is a performing arts center, opened in 1929.
The aims of the Constitution Week celebration are to:
- Emphasize citizens' responsibilities for protecting and defending the Constitution.
- Inform people that the Constitution is the basis for America's great heritage and the foundation for our way of life.
- Encourage the study of the historical events which led to the framing of the Constitution in September 1787.
